Joining Groups

If you're someone who finds making donations, community service, etc to be too little of a contribution to your community then perhaps joining or creating community groups will be your calling.

Over the years people have found that crime rates have skyrocketed and has become a problem still unresolved. Beyond basic crimes, many neighborhood crimes (break-ins, abduction, disturbances) have also climbed in ranking.
The link below is a site that shows the top 10 safest cities in South Carolina accompanied with a meter showing the cities with the most crime rates.

Not only have crimes been an issue, but pollution and illegal dumping have been creating neglected environments and even harsher tones between neighbors. With these things in mind wouldn't you like to have a way to fix your neighborhood? Wouldn't you like to make it a safer place for children and animals? Most people would say yes and there are many ways even a student could contribute.

The first thing people should consider is exactly what kind of group they would like to be apart of. There are the obvious organizations like YMCA, the South Carolina Student Loan Corporation, the Lowcountry Food Bank, and the Darlington County Community Action Agency, but what if you want something more selective to a cause in your area locally?

There is simple answer, you have to find your philanthropist drive. You can look at many different quizzes but one of the "quick and easy" ones is CAF's Philanthropist survey.

This survey from CAF shows what type of philanthropist you are and what organizations you can trust and work with! CAF Philanthropist survey

Benefits of Joining a Community Group

Of course Joining a local community group has its benefits and there are many ways to utilize them. One way you can utilize a local community group is through creating neighborhood watches. This stretch will be relatively easy and even your older, more sceptical neighbors may find interest in a watch group to protect their yards! Now, there are some situations where creating a watch group is not meant to be the focus of your local community group. What this means is a community group can aid in creating watch groups, but they are not the only ones who will oversee the entire process. So with that being said, there are typically five steps to take when creating a neighborhood watch group.

More information can be found on the National Neighborhood Watch website. The National Neighborhood Watch helps people know how to create a neighborhood watch group and provides several benefits with additional information.

>While starting a neighborhood watch group is a great addition that helps people spot potential problems/dangers but there are still many other factors as to how you have to prevent and be rid of them at the core.
